41 CONCACAF member countries are eligible for participation.



35 teams enter the competition:

- all 3 NAFU countries;

- all 7 UNCAF countries;

- 25 of the 31 CFU countries (Anguilla, Bahamas, Bonaire, British Virgin Islands, French Guiana and Turks and Caikos Islands do not enter).



Players born after 1 January 1999 are allowed to participate.





1st Round:

Format:

All matches from the Group stage and Knockout stage take place in the USA.

35 teams are drawn into 5 groups of 6 teams each (Groups A-E) and 1 group of 5 teams (Group F).

Teams are distributed into 6 pots, based on their CONCACAF U20 national teams ranking:

Pot 1: the teams, ranked 1st-6th in the ranking;

Pot 2: the teams, ranked 7th-12th in the ranking;

Pot 3: the teams, ranked 13th-18th in the ranking;

Pot 4: the teams, ranked 19th-24th in the ranking;

Pot 5: the teams, ranked 25th-30th in the ranking;

Pot 6: the teams, ranked 31st-35th in the ranking.

Each group consists of 1 team from each pot, with Group F having no team from Pot 6.

Each team plays the others from its own group once - for a total of 5 games each (4 games each for Group F teams), over 5 game weeks.



Scoring points:

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.



Table order:

1. points won; 2. points in head-to-head matches; 3. goal difference in hth matches; 4. goals scored in hth matches; 5. total goal difference; 6. total goals scored; 7. draw.



Qualification for the Qualification stage:

1 place of each group: qualify for the Qualification stage.





Qualification stage:

Format:

6 teams are drawn into 2 groups of 3 teams each (Groups G and H).

Each team plays the others from its own group once - for a total of 2 games each, over 3 game weeks.



Scoring points:

3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss.



Table order:

1. points won; 2. points in head-to-head matches; 3. goal difference in hth matches; 4. goals scored in hth matches; 5. total goal difference; 6. total goals scored; 7. draw.



Qualification for FIFA competitions:

1-2 place of each group: 2019 Poland U20 World Cup



Qualification for the Championship Final:

1 place of each group: qualify for the Championship Final





Championship Final:

Format:

2 teams from the Qualification stage contest the CONCACAF U20 winner in a knockout format.



Final:

The two Semi-finals winners meet each other with the winner becoming CONCACAF U20 winner.

Winner is decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.
